"It is such a relief to be in the company of people with whom it is possible to share problems and fears, knowing that having had similar, they will understand." A small, informal, supportive group where people can talk freely about their experiences as a friend or relative of someone with mental health difficulties. Time: Second Thursday of every month 10.30am-12.30pm Address: Friends' Meeting House, 43 St Giles, Oxford, OX1 3LW Contact: Pat Ross on 01865 750124 Why a Carers' Support Group? Caring for someone with mental health problems, although it can be rewarding, is by its nature a stressful experience. It is important that relatives and carers are able to find time for themselves and an outlet for their own feelings. The Carers' Support group is one of the longest-running Mind projects in Oxford. It was set up to provide both emotional and practical support to people who have a relative or friend with a mental health diagnosis. Members of the Carers' Support Group have found that discussing our own experiences of dealing with the impact of mental health problems helps us to feel less alone. By exchanging views and becoming more informed we are also able to cope better in a crisis. Many of us have been attending the Group's monthly meetings regularly for several years, others come from time to time or for a short period. We are always pleased to welcome new members.
