What is Oxfordshire Mind Housing?
Oxfordshire Mind has been a housing provider for over 30 years. At the moment we run a number of supported housing projects in partnership with housing associations, private landlords and Oxford City Council. We aim to provide good quality, safe and well-managed accommodation with flexible support for people with mental health problems.

What support is provided for residents?
Support is available from staff from Monday to Friday normally during office hours, but there is a 24-hour on-call system in all housing projects to deal with out-of-hours emergencies. We support people to live independently in the housing we manage.

We do this by:

1. Helping people to keep their tenancies
2. Ensuring that people get the help they need from other services
3. Supporting people to manage their own health and keep active
4. Assisting people to move on to appropriate housing

We offer support:

1. To help people to respect their tenancy conditions
2. To claim benefits, manage money and resolve debts
3. To manage neighbour disputes and respect sharing
4. To devise plans to manage difficult times
5. To signpost to other services

How long can I stay?
Our services are designated as long-term and most clients stay between three to five years, but generally people can stay for as long as they need and want to use the support offered. Our houses are not permanent homes, but stepping stones to more independent and secure accommodation.

What does it cost?
Housing costs are met through the rent (covered by Housing Benefit for most people). Residents pay a small service charge of up to £20. Support costs come through the Oxfordshire Supporting People Grant.

What are the criteria for application?
  • Aged 18-65 with mental health needs
  • Be on Care Programme Approach (CPA), except for our women's only project at Micklewood House
  • Be in need of and willing to accept support
  • Where applicable, be willing to share, attend regular house meetings and to be considerate of the needs of other residents

We cannot accept people who present a significant risk to property, staff or other residents. All decisions will be based on the ability of the service to manage these risks.

Which project do I apply for?
Unless you specify otherwise we will consider you for whichever house has a suitable vacancy. Applicants nominated by Oxford City Council are given priority for Micklewood and Western House provided they meet the above criteria.
