to Groups What is the Oxfordshire Mind Groupwork Programme? Oxfordshire Mind has many years of experience in running cognitive behavioural therapy based groups to help people learn to cope with anxiety or depression, build self-esteem or learn assertiveness techniques. What is cognitive behavioural therapy? It is a practical, problem-solving therapy which aims to change patterns of thinking or behaviour that underlie emotional difficulties, and so change the way people feel about themselves and relate to others. Who runs the groups? They are run by experienced Mind mental health workers and a psychologist from the Oxfordshire Mental Healthcare Trust, with financial support from the North Oxfordshire PCT Partnership. How long does a group last? Most groups run for between six to ten weeks. Some also have one follow-up session. Is there a group near me? Groups run in Oxford City and towns in North and South Oxfordshire. What if I work during the day? There is a mixture of daytime and evening groups. How much do they cost? There is a sliding scale of charges from £25 - £85, depending on income. How will I know if an Oxfordshire Mind group is right for me? There is usually an individual assessment. What does an assessment involve? Face-to-face assessments last about an hour, and are an opportunity for you to meet the workers running the group and to discuss your needs. How do I book an assessment? Assessments are held in the weeks prior to the start of the group. Contact the worker running the group you are interested in attending - see details on the programme. How can I find out more? Ring Ellie on 01865 263730. |
