Paul Walks 100 Miles for Mind in less than 48 Hours

June 2012 - Paul Bobby is a keen long distant walker from Farmoor (near Eynsham and Oxford). Paul has decided that after many years of walking for his own pleasure (although some would question how walking 100 miles can be described as pleasurable?) that he would like to mark reaching 50 in 2012 by trying to raise some money for a good cause. He has kindly chosen Oxfordshire Mind as he says it is a charity which is close to his heart . The objective of the event, being held on the Jubilee weekend at the beginning of June 2012, is to complete the 100 mile course within a 48 hour timescale. While England's south east cannot offer the greater hills of some recent Long Distance Walkers Association 100s, the 2012 route includes some 10,000 ft of ascent and descent, so is no pushover.
For more information about Paul’s challenge please log on to www.justgiving.com/paul-bobby or send a cheque payable to Oxfordshire Mind to Paul Bobby 100 Miles for Mind, Oxfordshire Mind, 2 Kings Meadow, Osney Mead, Oxford OX2 0DP
Many thanks for your kind support!

Michel Marty is trekking up Mount Blanc – 4810 metres high

21 to 28 September 2012 in aid of Oxfordshire Mind.

Michel, a Staff Nurse on the Kennett Ward, told Oxfordshire Mind that he was born in France (long ago), but he has been here in England for the past 19 years.
Michel said “I have worked in the NHS for about 18 years in the mental health field. I have been a support worker, a community support worker, a CPN (Community Psychiatric Nurse) and now a staff nurse on a medium secure forensic ward. I used to take patients to Mind’s projects when I worked in the community. I have seen the good work they do and know that they offer a great deal of support for people living with mental illness. I want to do this trek and support the charities efforts as if it was not for Mind the support to individuals would be very limited for those who live in our community who are struggling with every day life. I did the three peaks about 10 years ago and I have climbed several 3000+ metres summits in the Pyrenees as well as some in north Wales including Tryfan. As part of my training I plan to climb the Aneto which is the highest summit in the Pyrenees.

This is a self funded event and I’m hoping my efforts will raise at least £500 for Oxfordshire Mind. Please log on to www.justgiving.com/Michel-Marty to see Michel’s fundraising page."
